Coming From America: Help Us Reach Our Goal For Kenya April 25 2013, 0 Comments

Short Summary My Name is Stan Otieno Ogwel. I was Born in Kenya and Moved to the United States at 8 years old. I remember quite a lot about my early childhood in Kenya but as i've grown i've missed it as well. I lived the American Dream (From an African Standpoint) I got to Play Baseball, Football, Went to the Prom, Went to College, Joined a Fraternity and Promoted lot's and lot's of Parties.. What I'm wanting to do with my campaign is to make a short documentary on the life i've lived out here and the life that I missed out there. I will be interviewing Americans and Africans around my age group to compare and contrast about the different timelines of our lives since I left Kenya. While doing that, I have a social project that I want to incorporate duriing my trip as well. I want to be a Blessing to a few people who I haven't even met yet. I need your help in order to make that happen. I am taking my wife with me for her 1st trip to Africa and i'm going to introduce my village to my Son, their 1st Luo member born in the United States. We have already collected used clothings to go and donate to young children at an orphanage and school. We will need the extra money to pay for the extra luggage that's "Coming From America". We also plan on purchasing 2 Google Chromebook Laptops to go install in the Village as the beginning of a Learning Center. Your contributions will help us with 2 Chromebook Laptops, bringing the clothings that are "Coming From America" & help us buy an Airplane Ticket for a Videographer who will be on this journey with us to capture each moment. It will help in securing our chance of making this vision a reality. This Video Project is only the Beginning. Sales from the "Coming From America" project will help start a foundation towards more trips & projects towards helping the less fortunate individuals throughout the world. What We Need & What You Get We need $3,000 to fund our project. 2 Chromebook Laptops for the Village, Clothing for young Kids & Flying a Video Guy with us to Kenya for Filming and Editing the African Portion of the Documentary. $15 You get to be named as a contributor to the project $25 You get a Poster & Name on the Project $35 You get a Poster, Name on the Project + Postcard From Kenya $50 You get to be Named on the Project + DVD + Poster $100 Name on the Project + Poster + DVD + "God Bless" Shirt $500 Name on the Project + Poster + DVD + "God Bless" Sweatshirt & Shirt $1,000 Name on the Project + Poster + DVD + "God Bless" Sweatshirt, Shirt & Hat If we don't reach the entire goal, the funds will go towards Purchasing a Chromebook Laptop & Delivering the collected clothing with us. The Impact "Coming From America" Is Valuable because we feel like anyone can make a difference and that's what we want to invoke with our video project. We Started a Clothing company called Thank You God Bless which has the main mission of Always Walking In Love. With this project, we are going a bit further and creating a project that falls in line with our shirts. We are leveraging our influence and realizing that we are all Blessed to be a Blessing to others. Even if they are in another part of the world. August The Great's: Year In Review April 25 2013, 0 Comments

I can't believe it's already been a year. Today was our son August The Greats 1st Birthday. I never knew what i'd feel like when I got the chance to be a father. I remember always looking towards the future knowing that one day i'd get the opportunity to become the best father ever to my future children. Today marked the 1st Year of living out that future life I had always dreamed about. I must say, This was a FUN YEAR. I am so thankful to have this opportunity in life to be a great Father and Husband to my family. I am truly Blessed and as long as i'm alive, I will continue to strive to be the best example of a Man to my Son, Wife, Community and the World because Jesus told me that I AM THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD & I Should Keep SHINING as Bright as I can because in Glorifying Him, I am able to do his will to those who need to see how miraculous God can change, shape and mold a man into doing his will. Let's Take a Look at this Past Year in Review of August The Great.

Pat Tillman Race / August's 1st Bday Weekend April 25 2013, 0 Comments

This Saturday Morning My Brother & I went to support my Son August The Great in his 1st Marathon. Seems like August wanted to do a lot of activities before he turned 1 year old. We registered for the Pat Tillman Race and woke up at 5am. This was a fun experience for all 3 of us. There were more people at the race than we expected. over 28,000 in attendance for the race. We got to meet up with the Arizona Cardinal's Wide Receiver Larry Fitzgerald and he picked up August The Great and wished him a Happy 1st Birthday and good luck on his 1st marathon. we ran 4.2 miles in 1hour with no training. We wanted to leave room for us to beat next year :) My brother mike finished his run in 30 minutes, that fast lil' Kenyan. We enjoyed being a part of a great race to keep the legacy and spirit of Pat Tillman going for what he lived and died for. I can't wait to find more events to share and enjoy with August The Great later on in life.

Feed The Homeless / August's 1st Bday Weekend April 25 2013, 0 Comments

This past Friday I took my son August the Great to his 1st Community Service event. This weekend was his 1st Birthday Weekend and I wanted to start a tradition with him to where he's able to give back for all the blessings he will have growing up. I attend a feed the homeless program every 3rd Friday with my Fraternity (Alpha Phi Alpha) at the First Institutional Baptist Church in Phoenix Arizona. I've been involved with this community service event ever since I joined my fraternity in 2001. Please feel free to come join us at the church ANY friday as it's open to everyone to volunteer. We start at 5:30pm until 8pm. it's on the corner of 12th street and Jefferson. 1141 E. Jefferson st. Phoenix az 85034. A few family members flew into town that same day and we all took that opportunity to go together as a unit to support August on his Birthday weekend and help some of our less fortunate members in Phoenix. Hopefully when August Grows up he will not depart from this seed of helping others.

Macklemore & The Sultan Of Swag April 18 2013, 0 Comments

Life is something else.. Everyday I'm able to see how Amazing God is in blessing us all. We are all blessed everyday that we breathe and some of us are blessed to find out what we were put on this earth for at an early age. You know that you're getting old when you get on with life and ask around about how certain family members and friends are doing and you just say okay and keep on going down the list happy that everyone is still alive and progressing. Well I had that conversation over 2 years ago about a few friends and family members and this post is about one of them. I had asked my brother about how family back in Seattle was doing. He told me they were doing well, we somehow got into talking about our cousins the Arunga's. He told me that Uncle Dave was now the Kenyan Ambassador in Egypt, Momma Marsha was in Seattle, The sisters were doing well and all grown up and Owuor was still doing music playing his trumpet with a band. I recall being amazed at Uncle Dave and reached out to our little cousin and told her to let her dad know that I wanted to visit Egypt and have full Immunity lol.. Still it did not click January of 2012 I reached out to my little cousin and the family to invite them to our Son's Baby Shower in Seattle. I remember it was small talk and he told me that he was working on Music and that it was "History in the Making" and congratulated me on joining the fatherhood club. We flew to Seattle, I saw a few friends and family, came back to Phoenix and kept it moving.. Still it did not click Back on facebook here and there i'd see postings from family etc about Owuor performing in different cities etc, etc.. Still it did not click. I thought he was travelling and doing Jazz music in nightclubs playing his trumpet. It still did not click One Night I was up late and one of my favorite inspirational rapper tweeted a photo and mentioned my cousins name in Idaho. I did a double take.. It still did not click.. What was Dee 1 doing in Idaho and what was my little cousin Owuor doing with Rappers? So I tweeted them both back that night. Owuor responded that he was with a Group called Macklemore & Ryan Lewis. It still did not click. I said congrats and to hit me up if they ever made it to Phoenix.. So I did a little research and saw some pictures of shows and thought Ok, they seem to be building a little traction. Good job for Owuor, It was starting to click a little. Then one day I started seeing the name Macklemore and Thrift Shop showing up everywhere I looked online.. Then It hit me.. Whoaaaaaaa.. Is this the Group my little cousin was telling me about 2 years ago? So I clicked the Video.. and there he was in the middle of it all playing his trumpet all over America's Hit Song.. It Finally Clicked. I was filled with joy to see that someone I knew was living out their dreams the way we all dream of doing it. Let alone they were all from Seattle and I never thought I'd see a group do it since Nirvana did in the 90's.. You know how everyone tries to tell you a story about someone they know or a family member and say things like, "I gave him his 1st toothbrush and that's why he's Dentist of the Year now" etc, Etc.. Well I have one of those too, cause that's what we humans tend to do when we are excited for someone. Not out of jealousy but as an anchor to show how LIFE has soooo many paths that it can take and those who follow their instincts usually reach their goals while others keep on searching. Back in Seattle, I started playing the Trumpet in the 4th Grade because I liked the appeal of it. That following year I started playing Baseball as well. I remember Owuor & my cousins coming to America from Kenya when I was in the 5th Grade and we'd usually be at each others houses. I was always practicing my Trumpet when he would be over and playing Baseball outside.. As a younger cousin closest in Age to me, he was drawn to both. I don't remember how that pivotal point in his life went, but since it's my story and blog we'll just say that I encouraged him to Start playing the Trumpet and Baseball too lol.. Which he did, He came on my baseball team and Started playing trumpet as well. In the 6th Grade, I quit playing the trumpet because I didn't see a future in it and pursued Baseball. Owuor quit baseball and Kept playing the Trumpet. He continued playing and as we reached Highschool, He was playing in the band. He knew what he wanted and that trumpet gave him joy. I remember a few times he got to travel with the Jazz band and I travelled with the baseball team. I eventually graduated Highschool, went to the University of Washington and pursued Baseball there. I walked on and played my freshman year but was cut right before the season started. I stopped after that, Moved to Arizona State and Life kept on going. Owuor Kept on Playing, I'm pretty sure like all of us who have our passions for certain dreams that we want to obtain we are hit with setbacks. Not once or twice, but many times. We read and hear stories about how it's not how you fall but how you get back, yadi, yadi.. But i'm sure now looking back that since I left Seattle over 13 years ago, My little cousin faced life head on like everyone else and i'm sure he kept in tune with his heart and kept going. When I saw him this past weekend playing his trumpet on the MTV Awards with so much joy like he first did when he picked it up, My heart was re-energized. I saw a young man in my eyes achieve his goals and now reaping his rewards 20+ years later. I was reminded of when Jesus was telling his disciples that if you ONLY had faith the size of a mustard seed, you could tell this mountain to Move and it will. I see in my little cousin Owuor, His friends Macklemore & Ryan Lewis that same faith in their craft that they told EVERY mountain of doubt that was on their path to KEEP MOVING until their mustard seed grew into what we now see and congratulate. To that I say Thank You Owuor, You have given me a practical look into the faith i'm studying in to real life issues. I wish you the best journey and many more successes in this life. I pray that you continue playing that Trumpet like you first did because it's that Same Love you had for it that has brought you all of your Treasures. Thank You & God Bless Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, The Heist & Owuor Arunga and anyone else right now that is pursuing their dreams. Don't give up. If you Don't Quit, You'll Win

Journey into Peace April 10 2013, 0 Comments

** This is a repost from: http://www.begracefull.com/let-the-journey-begin/ ** Please see this as a journey of discovery into who and what a spiritual path is for you. Please take some time and think about the questions in BOLD CAPS. Based on the scripture that is just below the question take a moment to write your answer on a piece of paper. If the results do not astonish you at first give it some time and let these ideas soak into your soul and let the journey begin! LAW AND GRACE SCRIPTURE REFERENCES WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THE LAW? Romans 3:19,20- “… that every mouth may be closed, and all the world may become accountable to God; because by the works of the law no flesh will be justified in His sight; for through the law comes the knowledge of sin.” Romans 4:15- “….the law brings about wrath, but where there is no law, neither is there violation. Beloved, if your heart does not condemn us, we have confidence before God; and whatever we ask we receive from Him,…And we know by this that He abides in us, by the spirit which He has given us.” 1 John 5:18- “We know that no one who is born of God sins.” WHAT RESPONSIBILITIES DO WE HAVE “UNDER GRACE”? Matthew 22:37, 39- “You shall love the Lord your God with all you heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind…You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” (2) Romans 14:19, 22- let us pursue the things which make for peace and the building up of one another…The faith which you have, have as your own conviction before God.” Romans 15:2- “Let each of us please his neighbor for his [neighbors] good, to his [neighbors] edification.” 1 Corinthians 8:9- “…take care lest this liberty of yours somehow become a stumbling block to the weak.” 1 Corinthians 9:19, 22- “For though I am free from all [(3)], I have made myself a slave to all that I might win the more….I have become all things to all men , that I may by all means save some.” 1 Corinthians 10:24,31- “Let no one seek his own good, but that of his neighbor…whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.” Galatians 5:13,16- “…do not turn your freedom into an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another. …walk by the Spirit, and you will not carry out the desire of the flesh.” Hebrews 10:24,25- “…let us consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds, not forsaking our own assembling together,…encouraging one another.” 1 John 3:22,23- “…keep His commandments and do the things pleasing in His sight. And this is His commandment, that we believe in the name of His Son Jesus Christ, and love one another. WHAT ARE THE LIMITATIONS OF THE LAW? Galatians 2:16,21- “…man is not justified by the works of the law…by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified. …if righteousness comes through the law, then Christ died needlessly.” Galatians 3:11,12,21- “…no one is justified by the law before God…the law is not faith,…if a law had been given which was able to impart life, then righteousness would indeed have been based on law.” Hebrews 7:19- “…(for the law made nothing perfect)” Hebrews 10:1- “For the law, …can never…make perfect those who draw near.” 1 Corinthians 15:56- “…the power of sin is the law.” WHAT ARE THE CONSEQUESNCES AND WARNINGS OF GOING BACK UNDER THE LAW? Galatians 3:2,3,10- “…did you receive the Spirit by the works of the law, or by having faith? Are you so foolish? Having begun by the Spirit, are you now being perfected by the flesh?…For as many as are under the works of the law are under a curse.” Galatians 5:1-4- “… keep standing firm and do not be subject again to the yoke of slavery…if you receive circumcision, Christ will be of no benefit to you….every man who receives circumcision,… is under obligation to keep the whole law. You have been severed from Christ, you who are seeking to be justified by law; you have fallen from grace.” Philippians 3:8,9- “… I count all things to be loss…in order that I may gain Christ, and may be found in Him, not having a righteousness of my own derived from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ.” Colossians 2:16-18,20-23- “let no one act as your judge in regard to food or drink or in respect to …a Sabbath day- things which are a mere shadow of what is to come; but the substance belongs to Christ…why act as if you were living in the world, do not submit yourself to decrees, such as , “Do not handle, do not taste, do not touch!” (which all refer to things destined to perish with the using) – in accordance with the commandments and teachings of men? These are matters which have, to be sure, the appearance of wisdom in self made religion and self-abasement and severe treatment of the body, but are of no value against fleshly indulgence.” OTHER SUGGESTED SCRIPTURES Romans 3:31; 7:1-4; Colossians 3:14; 1 Timothy 1:8-9; James 2:9-11 Original compilation and questions created by: Joe Quillin (1) This is a statement of the clear and definite inference in verses one and two. (2) Refer to HOW IS THE LAW FULFILLED? references. (3) The word “men” is placed here in the NASV but, at best, is only implied in the Greek.

Easter Service 2013 April 01 2013, 0 Comments

I want to start out by giving thanks to Jesus Christ for being our Lord & Savior. My family & I went to the Fountain of Life House of Worship in Phoenix this weekend for their Easter Service. Their arts department put on a play that was magnificent and very moving. This was our 1st Easter Service together with our son August The Great. Is I grow, I'm thankful and happy to have Christ in my family's life. We continuously grow and I get new revelations on how to be a better Husband, Father, Son, Brother & Friend. 20130401-175803.jpg 20130401-175833.jpg 20130401-175856.jpg 20130401-180511.jpg 20130401-180527.jpg 20130401-180554.jpg 20130401-180620.jpg 20130401-180636.jpg 20130401-180655.jpg 20130401-180718.jpg 20130401-180804.jpg

Phoenix Mayor Greg Stanton March 16 2013, 0 Comments

Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, (I Timothy 2:1-3 NKJV)

20130318-000118.jpg

20130318-000144.jpg I've been feeling pretty tired and overwhelmed lately. I never thought 40 hours of Work, 18 college credit hours at night and spending time with the Mrs and 10month old son would be exhaustive. I decided to pray about my tiredness and asked for strength to do all things through Christ that's in Me. My revelation told me to WAKE up Even EARLIER.. (For Real Lord?) so my alarm has been set for 5:45am Mon - Fri. But I was still getting tired, I even took a week off work. Then I was instructed to to what I was told.. Everyday.. Not just weekly.. Saturday & Sunday too.. So I started waking up at 6am on Saturdays and made it my duty to go to one of my mentors barber shop to get a cut weekly. I called Anthony at Ageez Barber Shop and told him to keep a seat open for me because I need to make it my routine to wake up earlier to get everything done. It's been a month of coming in early and sticking to my revelation to get less tired by just getting up earlier and finishing most of my work. This morning while at Ageez Barber Shop at 6:30am, Anthony told me that the Mayor of Phoenix Greg Stanton would be at the shop to speak with us about changes happening in Phoenix. The mayor came to the shop, spoke to us about the new light rail being planned for central avenue, getting the community involved in the planning of the city and asked me to get involved with the big brothers of phoenix to help mentor younger men within the community. I was able to get one of my shirts to the mayor and he gladly wore it and gave me some kind words to keep spreading the message of Love. The moral of the story is this. When you wake up early everyday, opportunities will present themselves to you and all you have to do at that point is seize that opportunity. Thank you God Bless to Ageez Barbershop and the Mayor of Phoenix, Greg Stanton.

I was outside for only 5 mins when I noticed the clouds moving super low and extra dark. Something told me to take a picture of it because I don't usually see this in phoenix AZ. A loud thunderstorm hit and then it started hailing. I ran quickly to move my car into the garage but the storm got me lol.. Check the video below on how quick things can change. 20130308-210204.jpg   20130308-210234.jpg

Fathers & Sons Breakfast February 27 2013, 0 Comments

This past weekend I had the pleasure of getting together with 11 amazing individuals. 5 Fathers and 6 Sons. 20130227-114902.jpg My fraternity brother had kept pushing me on an idea we both spoke about earlier last year. Getting our sons together to play and creating an atmosphere where us young Husbands and fathers could congregate and build with each other through this journey called life. I woke up early and linked up with Donell & his son Ky. We went to buy groceries for the breakfast. 20130227-114712.jpg We got together and Justin had already started making the waffles, eggs and bacon with his son Justin Jr. 20130227-115118.jpg Marcus was one of our newest members this month and came by with his son Noah. I have a funny story about how Marcus, 4 other friends and I got into a HUGE brawl at ASU vs 50 people at a party and won. But that's a story for our sons one day lol.20130227-114744.jpg   Allen & Little Allen came by and Got to the food Quick lol. 20130227-114927.jpg Travis & Tyce were also our newestmembers to our group this month. Tyce is the Youngest of the Sons at 8 months old. 20130227-115152.jpg The Wives came and raided our party for a little bit so we let them get some food but after that, we kindly escorted them out the door to the nearest malls, walmarts etc. 20130227-115216.jpg We had a great time, the boys had fun and the fathers got a chance to just talk good old guy talk and keep each other going strong for the next month. 20130227-114618.jpg 20130227-114818.jpg 20130227-115045.jpg 20130227-115134.jpg 20130227-115238.jpg 20130227-115253.jpg 20130227-115331.jpg 20130227-115350.jpg 20130227-115411.jpg 20130227-115453.jpg We are all happy for Travis and his upcoming wedding in late April. 3 of the sons will be having Birthdays in April, Ky, August and Little Justin. Pray for all our families and all the men out there who are involved or needs help getting involved in their children's lives. If you are a single lady and would like to have your sons or daughters father get involved with us, leave us a message on the post and we'll let you know of our future events. It saddens me to write about another friend who has passed away this year Tyrice Thompson, it's unfair that you had to leave so young because you've always shown so much potential in everything that you did. As I sat in bed last night deciphering the news about your passing before word got out I had time to think about everything since I first met you. I first met you when I would volunteer with my Fraternity to come to your high school and speak to your class about the path to College. The first day I met you, you took the opportunity to ask about anything you wanted to know about College. You asked a question that made everyone laugh and we answered it. You then followed that question with a bold statement that you would see us soon because you planned on playing football at ASU. Two Years later after getting to know you on and off, you stepped foot on Arizona State University's Campus and seeked me out just to let me know that you had fulfilled your promise to me from when we first met. I remember welcoming you with open arms and feeling overjoyed to see you "Make It". I had mentored many young youths prior to you and you truly made me proud to have seen your progress. We kept in contact and you always knew you had a big brother figure on campus, you used your lil brother card and I was more than happy to redeem it whenever you came out to my events and parties. ; You came to me and told me that you produced music and wanted to Rap. My response to you was always welcoming because I remembered that you did what you said and set your mind to. A few weeks later you were always over at my house with Nate, Ben and all the homies recording upstairs. I remember telling you that if what you created was good I had no problem letting you guys perform it at my parties and events. To tell the truth, you guys' music kept me motivated to put on the best parties while we were in College because I wanted to see you guys get the best shine in whichever way I could help. The A-State-Shuffle was made and at that point I was sold that you had it made brother. I knew that you would make it in anything that you wanted because you showed talent throughout everything. As time went on, we had great chats online late nights when I was going through my spiritual cleansing. I felt that you understood me because you did not shy away from me after I stopped Partying and Drinking. I felt like I was losing friends left and right and even though we didn't hang out much you kept encouraging me to let my light shine as I was transforming. I remember a call we had one late night and I felt that you were on the same path as I. That night gave me strength to continue reading my Bible and not worry about losing friends because of my choice to follow God. I thank you for that moment because it helped me ease into continuing to just be me as I pursued Christ more because someone that I looked up to understood what pressures I was going through. When we last saw each other, you gave my wife and I a super big hug and you were genuinely happy for our new baby on the way at the time. You made me blush cause you kept just saying wonderful things to my wife about the great man that she had. I hold those uplifting words up now and remember the great feeling it gave off as you were uplifting me. I will hold on to that part of your spirit to enhance me to pass that on as I continue living. I am now understanding our positive impacts you leave on people keep on living long after you are gone. I am thankful to have been able to hold your hands in the Hospital this past wednesday and to pray with you. I massaged your feet as you were sleeping hooked up to the machines and left you some inspiring words at your bedside. As I left that Night I was heart broken because I felt that my supernatural healing powers were not strong enough to bring you back. I looked through every scripture of healing and cried out for your healing after I left. Even after hearing that you did not have brain function yesterday I still held off on speaking about you in the past tense, I prayed for a miracle today as everyone was starting to find out about your death. You were sent to keep me going with my growth. You were the only one besides my wife to uplift me during my walk and I believe that was a purpose that was accomplished. In your death I will look to be a better version of you to the down hearted brothers and sisters who are looking for a way out to make something positive out of themselves. I will find a way to uplift more spirits as I meet people because I know that the experience we had was not just between you and me; You uplifted everyone you met. I will walk in Light and Continue to let God's Holy Spirit Guide me. I will remember you whenever I feel down about this road to righteousness. I will remember you when I bring positivity to someone who had nowhere else to turn. I Love you & May You Rest In Peace Tyrice Thompson Thank You & God Bless for being a part of my Life. - Stan

Seattle Sonics Are Back January 09 2013, 0 Comments

Well, Almost Back. My Wife called me to tell me the News about the Sacramento Kings being sold to Seattle today. I was working so she was excited to be able to break the news to me first since i'm always first on major news in the Family. I got off the Phone, checked my Facebook timeline, No Word. Checked ESPN, No Word.. Then I went to NBA.com and there was a slight story brewing about the team being sold by the Maloofs to Hansen and a Seattle Group. Next thing i checked was the Roster of the current Sacramento Kings team. 2 Players stood out.. Aaron Brooks & Isaiah Thomas.. How cool would that be for two Seattle Natives to be back home for the home team. The Sonics were the 1st Major Sports team I watched when I first moved to America from Kenya. I remember sitting at a table with my father eating Wheaties learning about Michael Jordan from our 1st American Friend. He then went on to tell me stories about The Super Sonics that we had. All of this was amazing to a 9 year old in a new Country. Later on in Life I would meet Shawn Kemp, Gary Payton in pickup games in the Central District. I remember sophomore year in High School when we played against the Bulls in the Final. Having the team back would bring back some great childhood memories and build some new ones as well. Even though I live in Phoenix and have cheered on the Suns the past few years, One thing that has remained is our mutual Dislike for the LA Lakers. :) So far No major sites have confirmed that it's all true, but after having Mixed feelings last year watching the Thunder play in the NBA Finals 4 years after being removed from Seattle i'm ready to root for a "Sonics" Team. Maybe it took us watching our old team we took for granted to go to the Big game to light a match under us to be excited again. Hopefully it all works out and Seattle gets a basketball team to cheer for again. Thank You God Bless -------------------------

Creating A Life List January 04 2013, 0 Comments

In the film, The Bucket List, Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman star as terminally ill acquaintances on a quest to complete a wish list of activities before they  “kick the bucket.” As a result of the movie, the phrase “bucket list” entered into American vocabulary to describe the things a person dreams of doing sometime during his life. In this article, I’d like to discuss instead a life-list: a personalized list of things you want to do every day in your life. This list is motivated by dreaming about the sort of person you aspire to be rather than the kinds of things you want to do. Since a life-list is intended to include only what you see yourself doing daily, it should meet the following criteria: 1) Your life-list should consist of just a few things. 2) Your life-list should consist of only the most important things. 3) Your life-list should reflect your values. 4) Your life-list should be your life-list. In other words, it should not be based on considerations of the kind of person others expect you to be, but instead on the person you dream of becoming. One of the tendencies in creating a life-list is to pile onto it every conceivable idea you have of good things you could do each day. But let’s face it: a long list of anything is discouraging. If you end up with 40 things, it will be intimidating just to read through them each day—and virtually impossible to do them.  Instead of lifting you, an overly long life-list becomes a burden and is quickly discarded. To keep the life-list from being overwhelming, pare it down until you have only a handful of items of extreme importance to you. It’s better to make a life-list of only two things you actually review and do each day, than to create a life-list of 40 things that ends up in the trashcan. Why do I feel so strongly about developing a life-list? If you write down and live out a life-list, it will become your legacy. We are known by what we repeatedly do. How we spend each day, taken in total, determines the mark we make on this world. When you are eighty years old, sitting on the porch in a rocking chair and looking back on your life, how will you feel? You won’t have to answer to anybody but yourself...not your parents or your spouse or your business associates. What did you do with this gift of living? It will be an important question to you then. Why not make it an important question now? By - John Maxwell

Making Money As A Student December 27 2012, 0 Comments

Every kid needs to make some money , right ? You want a job. You can’t get a job. You need experience. You got no experience. High School and College kid problems. But fear not. Not every job has to be a career. Money plays. You don’t need brilliant ideas. Sometimes you just need to  make some money for the summer. Or to pay for your braces. Or to pay for the phonebill your parents killed you on. Whatever you need cash for , its always a problem that needs solving. To solve your big money problems, sometimes you only need to solve simple problems. Sometimes you just need to be creative. I’m going to give you 2 ideas any student going to any school can do to make more than minimum wage. 1. Shoelaces. Say what ? Shoelaces. I said it. I guarantee you that if you go to the parking lot of any high school or college football game with a bunch of shoelaces in team colors that you bought for 2 bucks a pop,and put up a sign and 2 chairs, you can make money. Not football season? . Go to where ever there are people in your community. Flea Market. Basketball Game.  Dance recital. Wherever people who go to your school show up , you show up. You set up your sign and your chairs. On the sign you put something like ” Get in the YourSchool spirit”.  I will re lace your shoes with “YOURSCHOOL” color laces for $10 (small schools), $20 bucks (big schools with more drunk alums or lots of rich people).  If you want to make it even more fun. You can add “I will lace them in 5 minutes or they are free”. If you are really enterprising, you can put up on the poster about 5 different ways to lace the shoes and charge a premium for anything but “Missionary” lacing. Easy money. Guaranteed. 2. Become an expert in programming All in 1 tv remote controls. People are buying a single remote control to replace all the remotes they have. No one really wants to take the time to figure out all the options.  No one wants to take the time to learn how to program the stupid remote. In fact it pisses them off that it takes far more time than they have to do something they bought the stupid remote to do. To help solve everyone’s problem, go to a local electronics store and find out what remotes they sell. Go to the local Walmart, Target, Best Buy, etc, etc. if the grocery store sells remotes go there too. Find out what the most popular sellers are . How do you find out which are the most popular ? You ask someone. Then , you become an expert in programming those remote controls. The worlds best expert.  Once you know your shit. Go back to the store with business cards with your email/cell phone number on it and the following   Your Name I will program any Remote Control for $20 I Have a Phd In Remote Control Programming Cell #/Email/Website   Then you go to all the stores and tell them that their customers will be far happier if they send them to you to program the remote. You will program it exactly like they want it, connecting to any and all devices.  All the store has to do is let you put up a stack of cards next to the remote control maybe a little sign.  Then you give a sheepish grin to the manager of the electronics or remote control section of the store and tell them how this is really important to you and how you will do a great job. you promise.  Then every couple days you go back to the store and talk to the salespeople who work there and remind them about your PHD in Remote Control Programming and how if they send you enough business, you might be able to spiff them a commission. Then you damn well do a great job or some other kid is going to steal your remote control programming business There you go. Easy breezy money. nothing fancy. Nothing complicated. Just some hard work , some customer service and the ability to be nice to people and thank them when they pay you and tip you.   This Blog Post was Written by Mark Cuban Visit his Site.
